2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups packed light brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cocoa, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla. Set aside to dry.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the flour mixture, stirring just until incorporated. Stir in the cocoa mixture. Beat in the remaining flour mixture until well blended. Fold in the chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cookie comes out clean. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares.
