1/2 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup chopped yellow onion
1 cup chopped green onions
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, soda and baking powder; stir into the creamed mixture until well blended. Stir in the salt, pecans and yellow onion. Mix in the green onions.
Roll the dough into 1 inch balls. Place each ball in a greased cookie sheet. Roll each ball in pecans and slice crosswise into 1 inch squares. Place cookies 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
