1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup cornflakes cereal
1 cup flaked coconut
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 inch jelly-roll pan.
Beat 1/2 cup flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in small bowl, mixing well. Stir egg into butter mixture; press into prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 1 1 hour, or until bubbles are noticeable. Remove pan from oven and allow to cool on baking sheet.
Sift remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, into large bowl. Stir in icing sugar, egg, vanilla extract, water, oil, cornflakes cereal. Roll into 1 inch balls, and place about 1 inch apart onto prepared pan. Cool completely. Cover rectangles with waxed paper to keep moist.
Bring oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Beat eggnog mixture into butter mixture, beating constantly. Stir flour mixture into eggnog mixture; beat well. Transfer to prepared pan. Chill 3 hours before serving. Cut into 1 inch squares.
