1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
4 teaspoons cinnamon
1 dash ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cloves
2 teaspoons powdered ginger
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons butter
4 egg yolks
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup white sugar
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease baking sheets.
In a large bowl, dissolve milk in 2 1/2 cups of butter; mix well. Mix in cinnamon sugar, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, sugar and vanilla extract. Press cinnamon mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan.
Bake for 15 to 18 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and continue baking 24 hours, removing from oven.
