2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup butter
3 eggs, lightly beaten
2 cups corn syrup
2 cups margarine, melted
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon instant coffee powder
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and cloves into a small bowl. Cut in the butter or margarine, if desired. Stir in eggs, corn syrup, margarine, sugar and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture. Fold in margarine mixture.
Drop dough by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
