2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup margarine, softened
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups milk
2 eggs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter or margarine, sugar and margarine until smooth. Beat in the flour, baking powder, baking soda and milk. Stir into the creamed mixture until just blended. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely before removing from pan.
To make the Caramel Glaze and Caramel Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the margarine, sugar and vanilla extract. Stir over low heat until mixture becomes very light and golden, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the milk and eggs until just blended. Pour over the cake while still warm and allow to completely set.
