2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup water
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a shallow dish or bowl combine flour, salt, oil, water and eggs.
In a separate bowl, combine yeast, milk and vanilla.
In a large bowl, stir together sugar and butter until smooth. Stir yeast mixture into flour mixture. Add milk if mixture is too thick. Pour mixture onto flour/sugar/butter mixture and cover with foil. Let stand until creamy.
Deflate the dough and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Kneat with a wooden spoon, roll in grape leaves or about 1 tablespoon at a time. Place on prepared cookie sheets.
Bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden. Cool on baking sheet for about 10 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
