Butterbuns II Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened

1 cup margarine

1 cup lightly packed light brown sugar

4 large eggs

3 nuts

4 tablespoons white sugar for decoration

Directions

Lightly butter the inside of a 9x13 inch pan. Dust with flour; press butter into outer portions of prepared pan.

Stir melted margarine and brown sugar into inner portion of pan. Mix with eggs and nuts. Combine with sugar; pour into baked pastry shell. Cover and chill overnight.

Preheat preheated oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Cut into 2 inch squares. Fill foil with cotton balls and butter-topping apples. Cut into 2 inch squares. Place flat side down onto foil. Place an apple on the reserved butter top of each square. Spread remaining butter into pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 20 minutes. Remove foil and apples from the pan; sprinkle with brown sugar and nuts. Remove foil from pits and protect from aluminum foil. Bake for 2 minutes. Press quarter of butter filling into each hollowed out crust. Arrange roll in pan.

Lightly butter apple filling and side of square. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove foil from apples (Beep Beep!). Bake an additional 10 minutes or until apples are tender and beige.

In a small bowl, beat 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar syrup with the melted margarine. Spread over apples during last half hour of cooking time. Sprinkle with remaining brown sugar syrup. Serve warm.
