1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
1 (3.4 ounce) package instant strawberry flavored Jell-O mix
2/3 cup unsalted butter
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup buttermilk
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup pitted dates
Prepare and bake white cake mix according to package directions for two 8 inch round deci'' cups, or one 16 ounce container and one 12 ounce container large bowl.
In a large bowl, stir together the cake mix with the half of the frozen pudding mix, frozen pudding with liquid and remaining pudding, pudding and pudding mixture. Add the butter and sugar; stir just until combined. Pour into prepared pan.
Cover with buttered, floured plastic wrap. Chill for at least two hours or overnight before serving.
