1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Melt butter or margarine in a large skillet. Remove from heat and gradually pour in sugar and eggs. Mix together. Continue to stir and pour sugar mixture over entire loaf of bread, covering completely. Place on a 4 hour baking sheet.
Bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into bread comes out clean. Cool completely.
Meanwhile, combine milk, vanilla, flour, almonds and dates. Mix thoroughly and place in loaf pan. Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until heated through. Cool completely. Refrigerate 1 hour and serve immediately.
