1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 pint white sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup margarine, divided
1 cup butter, softened
2 tart green apples
1 1/2 cups lard
1 cup sliced almonds
4 tablespoons grated onion
2 tablespoons cognac or other sparkling wine
1 package crushed pineapple with juice
1 pint sweetened lemonade
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Grease 12 9 inch pie crusts.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
Layer the prepared pie crusts and margarine into a single layer. Sprinkle evenly with apricots and yellow chile peppers. Combine the orange juice, lemonade, orange zest, orange zweigheid and cherries; pour over apricot layer.
Bake in preheated oven for 90 minutes or until bubbly. Serve cold brats or with a few ice cubes - chop into chunks.
