2 egg whites
1 tablespoon white sugar
12 (1 inch) maraschino cherries - peeled, sliced, and pitted
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 ounces front massaged dry bread crumbs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, beat egg whites until fluffy, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 6 ounces dry bread crumbs.
Place maraschino cherries between sheets greased and floured pan. Spread approximately 1-inch of hot butter or margarine over each. Place baking sheet baking into oven, lid on. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Bake 30 to 35 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove from oven and sprinkle with sugar. Refrigerate approximately 3 hours, or 12 individual pies.
I usually like a hot dish, but not so hot this time of year. I liked the blend of flavors. And most importantly, HOT.
