1 (18 ounce) package yellow cake mix
1/2 cup baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
2 cups white sugar
1 pint milk
1 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup butter
1 cup sliced almonds
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) cake pans.
In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Beat in oil, eggs and sugar. Mix in milk, vegetable oil and vanilla. Divide the batter evenly between the two pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. Beat together the brown sugar, brown sugar and baking soda until just blended. Blend into the creamed mixture. Beat in the butter, almonds and vanilla. Chill cake overnight.
