1 cup butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1 egg
2 1/4 cups white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 figs
8 cups all-purpose flour
6 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (15 ounce) can strawberries in cream
1 quart heavy cream
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8 inch square pan. Sift together the flour, sugar, egg and egg mixture. Set aside.
In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the melted butter, 1 cup brown sugar, the 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 figs, 8 cups flour. Place 1 teaspoon of cream in the bag, and use the rest to form the base for the sponge. Fill sponge with filling and sprinkle remaining cream on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 75 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the sponge comes out clean. Cool cake completely before icing with frosting. Frost with whipped cream or raspberry jam. Celebrate your birthday by decorating with these!
