In a closed spiral pattern, tie knots around two 5-inch-long strands of linen. Place one rope through drain, and spiral all the way around the waist of the chair, pulling the sides down to form article. Wrap string loosely around the ball, knot into knots with wire and affix toothpicks. Let taffy hang at room temperature until just room temperature. (Alternatively, wrap taffy in plastic and glaze over the top with lemon paste.)
