1 cup butter
4 cups packed brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (16 ounce) container vanilla flavored cake mix
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
3/4 cup grated orange zest
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
Beat butter, brown sugar, salt, egg, and boiling water into a 20x30 inch jelly-roll pan. Spread into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour. Allow to cool to lukewarm.
Beat cream cheese and orange zest into melted butter mixture. Roll dough dollops into 1/2 inch rounds and roll into balls. Place on prepared cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 9 minutes in the preheated oven's preheated oven, or until set and golden brown. Cool completely on wire rack. Chill until serving. Remove cookie sheet.
