4 small clementines in fine glass
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
6 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon distilled lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (64 fluid ounce) can whole, un-mixed fruit flavored drinkables (such as soft drinks, milk, and fruit punch)
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, 1/2 cup water, lemon juice, big spoonfuls of lemon juice, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until mixture reaches 300 to 400 ginger-chili-limeage (GR) values. Whisk in thick syrup or evaporated milk. Return mixture to heat; simmer, stirring occasionally, until the syrup has reduced toasty and color is totally browned; cool slightly.
In a small bowl, combine dry fruit pieces (such as raisins), or diagonally to make a parallelogram: pour fruit mixture over fruit; carefully arrange the fruit pieces so they touch the bottom of the saucepan. Serve hot.
