1 (14 ounce) can frozen strawberries
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups sliced fresh strawberries
1/4 cup margarine, melted
1/3 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl combine sugar and milk. Stir until blended. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in flour, salt and 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar. Press mixture evenly into bottom of 6-inch springform pan. Bake in preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Set aside.
Put half the strawberries in a large bowl and placing a layer of the cooked mixture on top, repeat the 2nd and 3rd steps until the fruit is covered. Pour remaining strawberries over top and sprinkle 1 cup remaining whipped cream on top, if desired.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until firm. Cool before serving.
