6 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons dried basil
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
4 cups water
6 medium tomatoes, cut into 1/2 inch strips
1 cup orzo
2 (28 ounce) cans tomato paste
1 (14.5 ounce) can parmesan
1 (2.25 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound lean ground turkey
1 (28 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup Italian-style cooking wine
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add oil and saute garlic for 5 minutes. Remove garlic cloves, rinsed out pulp and crushed pepper. Add basil and oregano and saute for 10 minutes. Add garlic powder and salt to taste.
Heat 4 (10 ounce) cans tomatoes, drained and cut into 1 inch slices. Place 1/2 cup rice cubes in a bowl and mix with water. Stir in water. Boil until tomatoes begin to soak, about 10 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, grind and transfer to large bowl. Gradually mix in rice and tomato paste. Mix in parmesan, tomato sauce, tomato paste and wine. Stir in cheese. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
