2 cups water
1 cup uncooked wild rice
1 cup brown rice
2 tablespoons margarine
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons dried chopped onion
1 tablespoon dried sage
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 cup chopped carrot
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine water, rice and brown rice. Cover, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in margarine and salt. Cover, and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in onion, sage, parsley, carrot, celery, onion, and garlic. Bring to a boil.
Stir in Cheddar cheese. Reduce heat to medium.
Reduce heat to low; stir in wild rice and wild rice mixture. Stirring constantly, cook, stirring, until rice is tender but not mushy. Remove from heat; stir with milk. Serve over hot bread.
