1 (18 ounce) package white cake mix
1 (3 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup white sugar for decoration
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup butter, melted
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup white sugar for decoration
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) round pans.
In a large bowl, mix cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, oil, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup milk until well blended. Mix thoroughly. Fold flour into sugar mixture. Pour batter into prepared pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
To make the frosting: In a large bowl cream butter, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup milk with electric mixer at medium speed until smooth. Beat in vanilla extract and 1 cup butter, stirring just enough to make the mixture stick. Beat in 1/4 cup sugar for decoration.
