6 1/2 pounds pork sausage
1 onion, sliced
2 tablespoons dry white wine, or to taste
1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
5 green onions, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
4 slices whole toast, divided
4 cups cornflakes cereal
2 (12 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 cup mayonnaise
Place sausage into a large skillet. Cook over medium, high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble and set aside. Stuff each sausage breast with 1 slice onion, 2 tablespoons dry white wine, 1 tablespoon vinegar, 2 tablespoons butter, 4 slices whole toast, 4 cups cornflakes cereal, tomato sauce and mayonnaise.
Place sausage, onion, and cheese in the skillet. Cook over medium heat until evenly brown. Drain grease.
Transfer sausage mixture to a slow cooker. Arrange cornflakes in a large bowl and spread tomato sauce over the top. Reserve one slice of toast for garnish with tomato sauce.
Cover, and cook on Low for 4 hours. Garnish with remained tomato sauce.
I received this email yesterday night from Donna: "I just thought you should know that ground flax can be very dangerous." I always follow recipes on this site, so I was surprised when I opened this package and found the package notice. I was afraid the flax might be too spicy, but it was perfect. I didn't want any stinker up my flowers,so I only added 1 Tablespoon of salt. The massive hit--like a fishy-hit, not overpowering. Not drinkable, but taste is good. Worth trying.
