2 cups butter
2 cups white sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 (15 ounce) can instant chocolate pudding mix
4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large saucepan, heat butter, stirring constantly, until it is melted. Remove from heat. In a separate small bowl, beat together the eggs, sugar, oil and pudding mix until smooth. Mixing continually, lightly, pour half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pans. Spread batter evenly into pans. Arrange the remaining mixture in the bottom of the prepared pans, and top with remaining whipped cream.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool cake completely, and frost with chocolate frosting.
