I've made this twice, and love it. It is a very simple dish, and parents always say, "It isn't quite cheesy, Kate", but it`s still delicious. I added mushrooms about a cup and apple slices about an inch deep, added whiskey and lemon juice, about a cup of chopped walnuts, and I omitted the nuts, except for my toasted pine nuts. It turned out wonderful! I would like to make it again, but my husband is usually the one who comes up with extra turkeys for Thanksgiving, so I was hoping he`d be the one to whip this into sausage for me.
