1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup butter, chilled
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, stir together 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 cup butter. Cut in 1/2 cup sugar until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in brown sugar until mixture is smooth. Stir in 3 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and 1/3 cup butter.
Divide dough in half and form into rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick, on a lightly floured surface. Spread each rectangle into a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
