1 (18 ounce) package yellow cake mix
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup orange sherbet
1 (3 ounce) package orange flavored Jell-O
1 (3 ounce) package instant orange pudding
2 cups boiling water
1 (2 ounce) package instant orange sherbet
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1 cup heavy cream
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) round pans.
Mix together cake mix and butter. Make a well in the center and pour in orange juice, orange sherbet, pudding, and 1 cup boiling water. Stir just until moist.
Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely! Cool on wire rack.
In a large bowl, cream together the cream cheese and 1 cup orange sherbet until smooth. Beat in the gelatin mixture to make an ice cream base. Stir in the orange sherbet. Fold the whipped cream into the orange sherbet mixture. Stir until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Remove sides of thawing pans and cool completely. Fill cooled pans with frosting. Spoon filling into cooled pans. Chill several hours before removing from pan.
