2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 pounds mushrooms, sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped cabbage
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Line a 9x13 inch pan with aluminum foil. Place mushrooms in pan. Place onion in pan.
Top mushrooms with peppers and mushrooms. Top with cabbage. Place a handful of butter in bottom of 2-5 cup dish. Spread cheese on top of mushroom layer.
Bake uncovered for 1 hour in the preheated oven, until mushrooms are tender. Serve over cold white rice.
I was a afraid going into this that it would turn out way too sweet. But it ended up just wonderful! This is so easy and delicious! I didn't have garlic powder--but I did have garlic powder-sauce. It turned out perfect--plain vanilla sauce but with a tiny sprinkle of nutmeg. I think next time I will add a whole egg to really tighten it up. I didn't make any changes--just kept it simple and delicious.
