1 cup extra-virgin olive oil
4 tablespoons dry white wine
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Saute yeast until foamy; stir in wine, salt and paprika. Cook, but not boil, until thick. Stir in basil and cook 1 minute. Stir in 1 cup of sugar.
Pour into saucepan 1 cup warm milk and cook 2 minutes. Simmer for 1 minute. Lower heat to low; stir in yeast mixture. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, until thick.
