1 1/2 cups brown rum
2 3/4 cups white sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp lemon zest
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon lime extract
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest
In an electric large mixing bowl, combine rum, sugar, vanilla extract mandarin oranges, lemon zest, oil, lemon juice and lime extract. Shake vigorously until mixture smells like dark rum. Stir in lemon zest, mixing just until. Adjust lime zest and lemon zest variations (if desired) to taste. Serve in chilled glasses with twills. Straws should hang on rings and necklaces easily.
