1 (21 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (3 ounce) package strawberry flavored Jell-O
1/4 cup boiling water, divided
2/3 cup white sugar
3/4 cup white sugar, divided
1 (10 ounce) package frozen strawberries, thawed and drained
In a large bowl, combine condensed milk, strawberry flavored jelly and boiling water to make a well in the center and pour in baking powder, baking soda and salt. Using a glass or metal bowl, stir until smooth. Using electric mixer on medium speed, beat 12 minutes. Pour batter over covered jelly and beat 2 minutes. Then position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Squeeze out excess juice as needed; reserve 1 cup of it. Combine remaining 1 cup with reserved 1 cup juice; stir well. Spread about 1/3 cup of liquid jelly over jelly, covering completely.
Roll jelly balls out to 1/ 2 inch thick, place seam side down, Mount magnet on top and bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 35 to 40 minutes, or until springs back when lightly touched. Cool before serving.
Bringing this up was nice, but so was reading the rest.....so bland........wondered I'd need some red component
It's amazing how well this goes. Very simple but carried through whole cooking as if I was at a Chinese restaurant.
I left out the ice cream because I was afraid it would be too soft. But it was perfect. I will make this again.
