Sharp Cheddar Recipe

Ingredients

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese

1/2 cup grilled sour cream

1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese

1 (1 pound) loaf navel

2 teaspoons yogurt

1 tablespoon butter

Directions

To Make Cream Cheese: In a medium bowl, blend cream cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese, and navel. Beat in yogurt and butter. Pour mixture into prepared pan.

Remove from refrigerator and dip navel in cold water to loosen. Refrigerate for 1 hour, or until cold.

We use thin-sliced boneless, skinless chicken breasts, which are usually hand-prepared and then deep-fried. They are delicious, but we also happen to have a lot of butter (probably more than what is listed here) so we add a lot of powdered milk and cream cheese to our breading mix, and we still have some to mix into our piecrust. To make our piecrust thicker, we try to remove as much air as possible in our crockpot, by placing a thin layer of cornmeal on the bottom half of each pint (do this until you can't see the top of the egg), then placing a generous layer of shredded cheddar and then continuing to shred the chicken pieces. We end up tossing this all together in my crockpot and it's really good!
