1 cup water
3 cups packed brown sugar
1/3 cup shortening
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 hot-plate cake mix
2 cups water
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter: 3/4 cup, cut into small cubes
3 eggs
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 minute wooden or ceramic cake pan.
In a small bowl, stir together the shortening and brown sugar until well blended . Set aside.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda; set aside. In a large bowl, mix together the milk and buttermilk until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the parmesan cheese and potato chips.
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
