2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 7/8 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 egg
1 1/2 cups hot water
3/4 cup chopped unpacked combs
4 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/1 cup white sugar
Preheat the oven broiler. In a medium bowl, stir ½ of the flour, salt and cinnamon to forms a smooth ball.
In a large bowl, cream together the margarine, sugar, and baking soda. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with 2 tablespoons water. Stir in the oats and chocolate pieces.
Drop dough by sprinkling one-third of the mixture onto ungreased cookie sheets. Broil until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Cool before carefully removing from baking sheets. Adjust baking sheets to your layout as needed. Return cookie sheets to wire racks to cool completely or grease with wax.
