1 pound large Italian sausage, diced
1 cup milk
1 onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
12 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (1 pound) can tomato sauce
6 bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cups bread cubes
6 cups chopped cooked turkey
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup red wine
4 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon olive oil
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, saute the sausage and milk until browned. Stir in the onion, green pepper and garlic. Season with salt and pepper. Add tomatoes and wine; pour over mixture, mix well.
Saute, stirring occasionally, for 1 minute. Lower the heat and simmer for 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
