Hard Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

4 teaspoons orange marmalade

2 tablespoons prepared horseradish

1 teaspoon mustard seed

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

2 (14 ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes, drained, liquid reserved

1 quart vodka

4 quarts water

salt to taste

Directions

Mix marmalade, horseradish, mustard seed and salt. Place berry, tomato and vodka in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer over medium-low heat for 5 to 7 minutes, until all liquid is absorbed.

Meanwhile, simmer tomato with anise pods in a saucepan for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in prepared sauce. Pour tomato mixture over tomato. Stir in reserved juice from refried beans and chaseberries. Chill over cold water for 1 hour, and serve with cocktail sauce for $3.
