4 medium heads cabbage, diced
2 onions, finely chopped
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/3 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
4 cups water
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons dried thyme
2 teaspoons dried parsley
1 teaspoon salt
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute cabbage and onion in butter until tender; set aside.
In a large saucepan bring water to a boil. Add vinegar, lemon juice, and salt and pepper. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 45 minutes.
Add bacon, sugar, flour, salt, and pepper, and boil until mixture thickens; remove from heat. Stir in cabbage and onion. Stir in 1 cup water. Stir in vinegar and lemon juice, and whisk until desired consistency is reached. Cool. In a bowl, mix together the dry ingredients. Fold in the cooked cabbage and onion. Pour into 2 glasses, garnish with sugar, and serve immediately.
This was good but nothing really special about it.
