2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
4 egg whites
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
In a medium bowl, cream together the flour, baking soda and salt. Beat in the butter or margarine, then stir in the confectioners' sugar and egg. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool on wire racks.
To make the candy, combine the vanilla, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of chips, 1/2 cup of confectioners' sugar, and 1 egg. Beat until well blended. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed. Refrigerate until ready to use.
To make the icing: Cream together the milk and 1/2 cup of confectioners' sugar. Beat in the egg mixture, then stir in the chocolate mixture, 1/4 cup of confectioners' sugar, and the vanilla. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Heat the confectioners' sugar and 1/2 cup of milk, or as needed, to heat through. Drizzle over cookies.
