3 cups shredded cooked white bread
9 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
4 teaspoons ground cloves
1/2 cup cooked bacon bits
2 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon cornstarch
3 tablespoons butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a medium bowl, combine bread crumbs, eggs, salt and cinnamon. Mix until smooth with fork or wire whisk until 1 1/2 cups are dry. Stir in nutmeg, cloves, and nutmeg mixture. Stir in bacon bits.
In a small bowl, measure milk, cornstarch and butter. Pour this into crockpot. Add just enough water to cover bottom of pot to reach halfway up sides; add enough bacon to cover bottom of pot to reach halfway up top. Cover, and cook on low for 1 hour.
