2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/4 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/2 cup salt
2 onions, chopped
6 tablespoons white sugar
2 teaspoons dried sage
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook and stir potatoes in water for 8 to 10 minutes, until tender. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Mix onion crumb mixture in a medium bowl. Mix potato mixture with crumb mixture, potatoes, and sauce in a large glass or metal bowl. Spoon mixture into potato skins and sprinkle with salt and sage.
Place baking sheets in a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until soft and browned.
