1 1/2 cups water
1 1/4 cups uncooked white rice
3 cups uncooked long-grain white rice
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
To Make the Rice: In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat to medium low; cover and simmer for 1 1 hour.
In a large saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add rice and stir. Saute for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in rice and stir until rice is cooked. Remove from heat and stir in vegetable oil and soy sauce. Bring to a boil, then stir in brown sugar, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Return to a boil, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender. Stir in cinnamon and return to a boil, stirring occasionally, until wine has evaporated and rice is cooked.
