1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust, crusts baked
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ground white pepper
4 1/3 cups bread flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup butter or margarine, cut into tablespoons
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (220 degrees C).
In a large bowl, cream together butter or margarine and 1 cup flour until well blended. Stir in salt, white pepper and the flour mixture until smooth. Drop dough by heaping tablespoons onto greased baking sheet.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool on greased tray; cut into squares. Reserve 1 cup for topping.
