It is a smoothie that is very refreshing. I first tasted the Smoothie at work and thought it was excellent, then at home, and finally in the smoothie. I did omit the baking powder, and it turned out perfect. I also did not have my fresh parsley flakes, so I used the fresh I could find, and it turned out fine. Followed the spices exactly, without the baking powder or salt. It was very refreshing on a hot day at work, when trying to cool the kids down.
A smoothie has to have some thickness and texture, and this recipe calls for no frozen fruit or ice, so in that respect, its not really a smoothie to me, just a fruit-yogurt drink. I did add quite a bit of crushed ice which didnt dilute the flavor it too badly, used vanilla Greek yogurt and pomegranate-blueberry juice (both what I had on hand) and was quite happy with the taste. As I always do with smoothies that have oatmeal, I first ground/pulverized the oats in the blender (a bit of fine sea salt and pepper would have added another layer of flavor, I think) and then added the rest of the ingredients. Pretty good, but it does either need frozen blueberries or ice IMO and at least for me, I'll cut the cinnamon in half if I make this again.
Okay, it's mostly ice - but what a great, flavorful blend of ingredients! I used Strawberries and Raspberries, and about a quarter tsp. of Sugar. Then I added about a tsp. of almond extract for sweetness. I did a few extra things different. I cooked the Crushed Rinds in the Microwave for 8 minutes first, then in the refrigerator for 2 hours, then in the Blendr for 2 hours. The result was quite delicious, but there was some dough stuck in the middle, so I'd recommend blending the Crushed Rinds (with the help of a spatula, rather than the powdered sugar of pastel color) to remove the little bits of dough that stuck to the sides, and then transferring that onto a plate, for clean-up. I also added a bit of almond extract for sweet-tart-ness. Probably the best Strawberry-Chocolate
