1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup chopped almonds
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1 cup chopped pecans
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in brown sugar, flour, cornstarch and 1 1 cup brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the remaining brown sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, cocoa and chopped almonds. Stir in the vanilla. Pour mixture into the 9x9 inch pan.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
