4 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons milk
1 (4 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1 1/2 tablespoons minced shallots
1 1/2 teaspoons minced onion
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon dried minced onion
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
6 (6 ounce) packages frozen white ham, thawed and drained
In a small bowl, mix butter, milk, cream cheese, horseradish, shallots, onion, garlic powder, flour, dried onion, horseradish, salt, pepper and ham. Mix well. Transfer mixture to a large container or a large bowl to chill.
Warm ham or cheese mixture in microwave or in small saucepan until slightly melted.
This was great - my husband and neighbors loved it. I made a couple of changes, like using Light Philadelphia cream cheese and Light, not so slight salt, but still spicier than restaurant grade cheese. I added 1/2 cup pecans. I also used 2 tsp. vanilla extract. I toyed with the idea of using kraft dinner but decided against it, as it would have required chopping up whole chickens. I ended up making Thai coconut milk, which was even better than the instant thing I had before. Thanks for the recipe, it's a keeper.
