Portuguese Beef and Onion Soup Recipe

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 onion, finely sliced

2 cloves garlic, pressed

1 (14.5 ounce) can tomato paste

1 (10.5 ounce) can tomato cider

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 cup vegetable oil

1 cup milk

1 (4 ounce) can sweet pickle relish

1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste

1/2 pound bacon strips

1 tablespoon mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions

In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, onion, garlic, tomato paste, tomato cider, salt, basil, oregano, oil, milk, sweet pickle relish, tomato paste and bacon strips.

In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce and bacon.

Add vegetable oil, tomato paste, bacon strips, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce and tomato paste. Mix well. Transfer to large pot. Simmer 30 minutes.
