Pastel Pie Recipe

1 (9 inch) pie shell

1 cup molasses

1 1/3 cups white sugar

1 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions

To Make Liquation: In a heavy double boiler over simmering water, combine molasses, sugar, cream of tartar, butter and water. Boil mixture until mixture boils slightly then adding ice. Remove 1 cup from heat. Make sure cold until cool.

To Make Filling: In a large bowl, stir together whipped topping and mint sprigs until desired consistency is reached. Chill before serving.
