2 pounds lean ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped green bell pepper
2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon dried minced onion flakes
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried sage
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 (8 ounce) tub lettuce
1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
salt and pepper to taste
In a large stockpot, brown the beef over medium-high heat; remove from heat. Remove onion and green peppers, reserving juice, and place in a medium bowl. Mix together Italian seasoning, herbs, crumbled onion flakes, basil, sage, thyme, oregano and salt and pepper.
Plop mixture into the large stockpot over simmering medium heat. Cover the stockpot, and simmer for 50 minutes.
The meat should be tender, but still have a promising spread when cut.
