French Toast Recipe

Ingredients

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 cup white sugar

1/4 cup white sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 (12 ounce) package white frozen dessert mix

Directions

In a medium bowl, blend the cream cheese and sugar. Mix in the vanilla extract, lemon peel and lemon zest. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). (Note: Do not really use the word "bake," it is to prevent sticking of the slices.) To the cream cheese mixture add egg whites and lemon zest. Mix together and pour into 7 inch round baking dish.

Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly browned. Cool 10 minutes, then add apple pie filling and lemon zest. When cool, layer cream cheese slices over apple pie filling.

I don't know how anyone could score a 5 on this one. This is a very dry and buttery toast. I tried it with the reduced fat version of the toast and it worked great. I agree that reducing the fat count is key. You could easily eat this and still not have the healthy fat of the omelet.
