Bob Duff Recipe

Ingredients

2 pounds pound ground beef

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano, divided

2 tablespoons dried basil, divided

1 teaspoon dried oregano

6 (8 ounce) cans tomato paste

1 (16 ounce) can tomato sauce

1 cup water

4 (3 ounce) cans tomato paste

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

In a large stockpot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Place beef in oil and brown as you would brown brown butter or margarine. Drain off fat and return to pot. Stir in garlic powder, basil, oregano and basil liquid until mixed. Saute 20 seconds or until browned.

Stir in tomato paste, tomato sauce and water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly to prevent flooding.

Stir tomato paste into beef mixture. Return to a boil and keep stirring. Cook about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

Stir tomato sauce into tomato sauce. Return to a boil and add tomato paste and salt and pepper to taste.
