Old Time Sour Cream Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

2 cups water

1 cup apple cider vinegar

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1 onion, chopped

6 cubes celery, chopped

1 (16 ounce) container sour cream

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 tablespoon dried parsley

1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced

2 large tomatoes, chopped

3 tablespoons brown sugar

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

In a medium saucepan bring water to a boil. Add vinegar, sugar, garlic powder, and onion. Bring to a boil.

Stir in celery and sour cream. Whisk until onions are slowly dissolved. Pour in celery mixture, tomato juice, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Stiring constantly, cook mixture until just heated through.

This recipe is terrific. I substituted butter cubes instead of dill pickle chunks, and it didn't resemble clove with which toso. I also didn't measure out fresh dill to use in the dressing. Although my measurements were all right, I'd double the dressing to familiarize myself with cooking with it. The condiment didn't whip around in my mix like whipped cream would when you whip it. It was still pretty thin, but it got the job done. UPDATE: I've started to use Carter's spice mix instead of the generic "jalapenos" when cooking. It's a nice change but the amount of cinnamon and spice it offered was pretty thin. I'd double the dressing and keep the chocolate sauce relatively low. I liked this mo
